The “illegals problem” was created for the express purpose of expanding ICE into a national police force that answers to no local or State authorities. The pattern of scapegoating a minority population as was done to the Jews in 1930s Germany is an often used play out of the political playbook. So, now, D.C. has its own Gestapo to harass, incarcerate and ultimately kill any who oppose them. All those cheering them on as the round up the hardest workers we have in our country should not be surprised when they get a knock on their door for posting something the folks in D.C. did not find to their liking. Yes, this bill signals the official start of a true dystopian future for the United States.
$990 billion in Medicaid cuts over the next 10 years to Americans, while simultaneously providing Israel $17.9 billion to commit a genocide against the Palestinian people over the past 2 years shows us the priorities of our government. Yes, the “Big, beautiful bill” is the doing of Trump and the republicans. But, both parties have overwhelmingly voted to fund the mass slaughter of the Palestinians.
I don’t know what the answer is, but I do know neither side works for us, the people. And if Trump has accomplished one thing in his short time back in office, he’s tipped this country to a boiling point. Is it a revolution? I don’t know. What does that even look like? I really don’t know. But, the people are angry. We’re angry. And anger inspires change, in whatever form that change comes.
Great article. I’ve just read a few of yours.. excellent writing and insights!
Absolutely spot on as always Scarlet and I love that you linked your "The Calvary Is Not Coming" piece (which is also absolutely spot on) because it continues to be the sign that perpetually needs tapping. It honestly feels like Democrats are screaming in our faces as loud as they physically can that they will continue to remain overtly hostile towards anything and anyone who dares to threaten the status quo that feeds their shamelessly belligerent depravity. They'll give themselves participation medals and raises for doing absolutely nothing while the Trump administration turbocharges its goosestepping into full blown fascism. It's criminal that so few people knew what was in this bill, or even knew it existed at all, because Democrats would rather tar and feather the only person in their party who seems to give a damn about putting us working people above all else. This monstrous establishment has an unholy amount of blood on its hands and with this bills passage, they just added a whole lot more.
But, as you correctly say, not all hope is lost - despite how bleak our current and future standings seem to be. Something that will always remain true is that it will always be a remarkable thing when workers realize just how powerful we can be. As you've said many times before, if we can learn from the mistakes of putting all our eggs in one basket (like Bernie Sanders), then there is a lot to be gained from what Zohran Mamdani just accomplished by winning the Democratic Primary for Mayor of New York City. Zohran himself is no messiah, he is but one grain of sand trying to help others come together to realize how much power we all have when channeled collectively. A true, working people's independent movement that spreads across the country can be an avenue for us to start claiming some real power and momentum.
You've mastered the art of mincing no words in assessing our current situation while also offering real, material ways in which people can get involved and start becoming part of the movement. We all have a role to play in laying down the foundation from which a better world can be built and if we don't organize while we still can, things will go from catastrophic to cataclysmic in the blink of an eye.
When has America not been involved in the genocide of people, citizens or not, inside its borders? Sure the government has more money now to murder, but it has never stopped.
I'm curious about the timeline for all this. Is it just easier to blitz it all out or are they trying to get ahead of something? Financial panic? Climate collapse? Trump dying of old age? Maybe I just want to believe that something will eventually happen to shake up the current system but I could also see this as thinking ahead for whatever comes next in the geopolitical order.
Humanity is a worthless irredeemable species and we all deserve to be wiped off the face of the Earth. I hope when Israel's done with Palestine they fucking betray us and wipe this disgusting worthless nation off the face of the Earth and do the same to every other country including themselves. This species was God's greatest mistake and we are doing his Earth a great service by getting rid of this parasitic invasive species that has contributed nothing worthwhile to existence.

Thank you for always being honest yet hopeful about the state of the country!
Well done. Shared to every platform I have.

Recognize, organize and mobilize.
Thanks for another fantastic read Scarlet!

Recognizing things are escalating doesn’t mean things were good before. It’s important to note the ways things are becoming worse.
